Playa Grande, Costa Rica is a classic beach break with waves 365 days a year. The beach extends for 5 kilometers and there are waves all up and down the beach. You will be able to find good waves that are appropriate for your level of surfing all year long.
From November until April, there are Papagayo winds that keep the waves nicely groomed and gives the ocean a summertime feel. The waves are smaller with a lot of Southwest swells. From the end of April until the beginning of November the South swells pulse through and bring bigger, stormy waves.
On those heavy offshore days, you’ll be able to find workable barrels. Furthermore, the waves in Playa Grande, Costa Rica serve as a great backdrop for world class photography.
